Appalachian Series Handcrafted Cremation Urn

The Cammerer cremation urn is crafted from solid sassafras. The base on this urn has an ogee detail that is a smaller version of the lid detail, and complements it nicely. The bottom is recessed behind the base, and is attached with six brass screws that are easily removed to allow for cremains placement. Cork pads are included on the base of this urn to protect any surface this urn is placed on, should you choose to display it.
In it's natural state, sassafras wood has a green cast. While sassafras is beautiful when finished this way, we felt that the addition of a cordovan stain helps to accentuate the grain of the wood. In preparation for staining, this cremation urn is meticulously hand sanded to ensure a lasting satin lacquer finish that is both smooth to the touch and complements the underlying stain and wood.
What inspired the Cammerer cremation urn?
The design of this cremation urn was influenced by a picture of Mount Cammerer, which is located on the Tennessee - North Carolina border. The wide, flat lid was inspired by the straight ridge line of Mount Cammerer, and the ogee details were influenced by the rolling hills that are see near the base of the mountain. The cordovan stain was selected to give the urn a similar color to the trees on the mountain when viewed in the fall.

- The general rule for cremation urn capacity is that for every pound a person weighed, you will need one cubic inch of volume. For example, a person who weighed 180 pounds would need a cremation urn with a capacity of at least 180 cubic inches.
