Appalachian Series Wooden Urn
Sorry, the Red Oak Shenandoah Wooden Urn is currently out of stock.
The Shenandoah cremation urn is handcrafted from solid red oak wood. This wooden urn features angled sides that are hand cut and assembled, with great care being taken to ensure a perfect fit. The lid overhangs the body of the urn, with a raised, sloping profile and complementary angles.
Once the angled sides have been joined, this wooden urn is meticulously hand sanded. This sanding is vital in order to prepare the wood to accept a lasting satin lacquer finish. Our finish serves to both protect and enhance the underlying beauty of the wood. The urn is sanded in between coats of lacquer, creating a finish that is smooth to the touch and blemish free.
The base of this wooden urn, cut with the same angles and overhang as the lid, is securely attached to the body of the urn with six brass screws. These screws are easily removed to allow for cremains placement. Also included on the base are four felt pads. These pads will protect any surface should you choose to display this wooden urn.
What inspired the Shenandoah cremation urn?
The Shenandoah's are a mountain ridge that runs along the Virginia and West Virginia border. It is a part of the Allegheny Mountains, which in turn are a part of the Appalachian Mountains. The word Shenandoah is of Native American origin, meaning "daughter of the stars". It is a beautiful name for a beautiful mountain, and we feel this wooden urn has many of the characteristics of its namesake.
The Shenandoah is also available in the following wood species:

Thank you for getting my Father-n-laws urn to us on time. It arrived and we were so pleased with the construction and appearance. My Father-n-law loved the mtns of NC so it was kind of special that his urn came from Asheville.
Kim from North Carolina
Most gorgeous piece I have ever seen.
