Mahogany Allegheny

Allegheny

Appalachian Series Wooden Urn

The Allegheny wooden urn is constructed from solid Mahogany wood and is accentuated with a medium stain. The clean, simple lines of this urn act as an outstanding showcase for the natural beauty of the wood. The lid of this wooden urn has a raised profile that completes its austere image.

Great care is taken when cutting the sides of this wooden urn to ensure that corners are straight and true. Once the sides of this urn have been assembled, it is thoroughly hand sanded. This sanding is critical in order to prepare the wood to accept a durable satin lacquer finish which serves to both protect and enhance the underlying beauty of the wood. The urn is sanded again in between coats of lacquer, creating a finish that is smooth to the touch and blemish free.

The base of this wooden urn is securely attached to the body of the urn with six brass screws. These screws are easily removed to allow for cremains placement. Also included on the base are four cork pads. These pads will protect any surface should you choose to display this wooden urn.

What inspired the Allegheny cremation urn?

The origin of the name "Allegheny" is uncertain, but it is possibly derived from the Delaware Indian word "Alleghany" which means "endless mountains" or "Al-lick-e-wa-ny" meaning "he is leaving us and may never return". Both words have poignant symbolism. Mountains are an everlasting monument, standing throughout the ages, and "Al-lick-e-wa-ny" is a moving farewell. When you consider both meanings, it is evident that Allegheny, while being a simple word, can express a wide range of thoughts and emotions; characteristics that make it a perfect name for this wooden urn.

"Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell."

Psalms 43:3
