LeConte

Contemporary Series Wooden Cremation Box

The LeConte cremation urn is constructed from both solid jatoba and jatoba veneers, along with solid maple accents. The base of this cremation urn is solid maple, which provides a poignant contrast to the deep red of the jatoba on the main body of the urn, and is easily removed with six brass screws for cremains placement. The lid of this cremation urn, which features a jatoba field and maple edging, continues this contrasting theme. The maple splines featured on the corners of this urn have been hand cut to ensure a perfect fit.

Once assembled, this cremation urn is meticulously hand sanded to prepare the wood to accept a lasting satin lacquer finish that is both smooth to the touch and complements the underlying woods. This cremation urn is suitable for either internment or display, and cork pads have been included on the base to protect any surface should you choose to display the urn.

What inspired the LeConte cremation urn?

Mount LeConte is the tallest peak located within the Great Smokey Mountain National Park, and there is considerable controversy over just which member of the LeConte family the mountain was named for. Because of the large contrast in opinions over the mountains namesake, we felt that LeConte would be the perfect name for this cremation urn, which features a contrast all it's own.
