Mission Series Wooden Urn
Sorry, the Cherry Prairie Wooden Urn is currently out of stock.
The Prairie cremation urn is constructed from solid cherry. It's tapered sides and large, overhanging lid are common design elements in traditional mission-style furniture. A cross, also crafted from cherry, has been affixed to the face of this urn. Felt pads have been included on the feet of this urn to protect any surface should this urn be displayed. The bottom of the urn is attached with four brass screws that are easily removed to allow for placement of the cremains.
Once assembled, this cremation urn is carefully and precisely hand sanded to prepare the wood to accept a lasting satin lacquer finish that is both smooth to the touch and complements the underlying wood.
What inspired the Prairie cremation urn?
The word prairie is derived from the French word prairie, which means "meadow" or "grassland". In geological terms, a prairie is a vast expanse of land that contains tall grasses and herbs. The Prairie cremation urn could be described in much the same way. It's large, flat lid doesn't contain any extraneous features, and the pattern of the grain in the cherry puts one in mind of tall grasses. Just like it's namesake, the Prairie has a beauty that has captivated many.
The Prairie is also available in the following wood species:
